"Imlil and High Atlas Excursion"

INTRODUCTION :

The charming little mountain village of Imlil is the obligatory stopping point for all hikers who wish to undertake the 4167 m of Mount Toubkal, the second highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro. Located 75 km from Marrakech, Imlil is also a gateway to the superb Toubkal National Park.


After crossing the gorges of Asni, a picturesque village known for its weekly Saturday souk, the road continues along a green valley where the mountains, impressive natural bastions, play with colours... mid-slope nestle villages Berbers with mud houses surrounded by terraced crops. Each of the villages is nestled against the foothills of the Atlas, and built in tiers. A succession of very varied landscapes and lush vegetation.


A mule ride to the village of Aremd is planned to admire the panoramic view of the Imlil valley and that of Toubkal.

Departure from Marrakech


After an early breakfast, you'll depart from your hotel or riad in Marrakech to join a group of guided tourists for the trip.


Village of Asni


Asni is a small village that serves as the gateway to Imlil. You can stop here for a short break and enjoy panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains. If it's a Saturday, you'll be treated to a guided tour of the local souk.


Hiking in Imlil


Once you arrive in Imlil, you can embark on a hiking adventure with our local guide to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding area, such as the waterfall. There are several trails to choose from depending on your fitness level and the amount of time you have available. The guide will give you options for you to choose from.

After the hike, you can indulge in a hearty lunch at a local restaurant. Arriving at the Berber house where you'll have lunch, you'll watch a bread-making show; Try the traditional tagine, couscous or grilled meat dishes served with fresh salad and bread.


Visit the local house


After lunch, you can visit a traditional Berber house and learn about their culture and way of life. You can learn how to make mint tea.


Return Journey


Finally, it's time to say goodbye to Imlil and head back to Marrakech. You can enjoy the return drive to watch the sunset over the beautiful Atlas Mountains.


Please note that you will have the opportunity to visit a local argan oil production cooperative along the way.
